Sarah McDermott is a public servant, Air Force veteran, and the proud mother to two Arundel Middle School students. Sarah shipped out to Air Force Basic Training four days after graduating high school. She trained to become a Signals Intelligence Analyst and was stationed at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. Years later, she moved to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to join her husband and start their family. A year later, they would be stationed at Fort Meade in Maryland. She currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner for Occupational and Professional Licensing at the Maryland Department of Labor. Overseeing over 25 boards and commissions, the division is responsible for licensing and regulating Maryland’s workforce. Previously, she served as Director of Communications for the Maryland Department of Budget and Management. Sarah received her Associate’s Degree from Anne Arundel Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
